- 1 Oct 1888: Arrived at the port of New York.
- 9 July 1897: Naturalized as a citizen in Pennsylvania.
- 23 April 1898: Wed Anna E. Keusen in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
- 30 Jan 1899: Son, Ernest Frederick Schwald, Jr., born in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
- Jun 1899: Son, Ernest Frederick Schwald, Jr., died in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at age 4 months and 7 days of meningitis & buried at Forest Hill Cemetery Scranton, Pennsylvania.
- 1900 Census, Scranton, Pennsylvania: Ernest was living with his wife, Anna "Annie" E. Keusen. This was near his brother Charles F. Schwald, and sister,
Maria Catharina SCHWALD Kiefer and her husband, Jakob Frederich "Fred" Kiefer. Ernest's other brother, Philip Swald was living in Utica, New York.

- 1905 Buffalo, New York City Directory: Ernest was living at 504 Elk Street, and employed by Lackawanna Steel Co. at West Seneca, Erie County, New York. THIS IS OUR LAST KNOWN WHEREABOUTS FOR ERNEST!!!

- 1910 Census: Ernest's sister, "Mary" K. Schwald Kiefer, was widowed and had moved North to New York, living in Lackawanna, Erie County, with her children. Charles Schwald and Philip Swald living at same addresses as prior census. Ernest's location unknown.
- 1920 Census: Ernest's sister, "Mary" Schwald Kiefer had died (1919), and Charles (listed as Charles Schwalb) and Philip Swald living at same addresses as prior census. Ernest's location unknown.
- September 1920, Scranton Times Newspaper: Ernest's niece, Caroline Schwald, daughter of Charles Schwald, Scranton, Pennsylvania, wedding announcement published. Charles Schwald and Philip Schwald were in attendance. Ernest's location unknown.
- 1930 Census: Charles Schwald, listed as "Carl" Schwald, moved North to New York, living in Utica. Brother Philip Swald, continued to live in Utica, as listed in prior censuses. Ernest's location unknown.
- 1934: Ernest's brother, Philip Swald, died in Utica, New York. It is unknown when brother, Carl, aka Charles, Schwald died.
